Heart of Manama and quiet and cozy? Sounds like a contradiction, right? But that is just what I stumbled upon. A cozy rooftop bar/ café/ hangout at the Merchant House called The Indigo bar. I thought I had explored all there was to explore in Bahrain, from hangout zones with a big bunch of friends, quiet spot for an intimate dinner for two or a place for the girl gang to hang out. But I was wrong perhaps because the hotel itself is only a year or so old in Bahrain and Manama hasn’t really been my hangout zone since my 20's especially after the crowd at Diggers changed to well 'Diggers' and old-ish men
I found it serendipitously while trying to find parking in Manama near the Standard Chartered building where I was supposed to pick a friend. Instead of driving down to a coffee shop in the Diplomatic area in drive-time traffic, we valeted the car and decided to explore the hotel.
The weather is perfect for warm coffee, hot gossip and the cool breeze and we had a relaxing time as she spilled the tea on our mutual friends and acquaintances.
We had a great time, and the coffee was good, alas, we didn't eat there, so I can't really tell you much about the food. However, Valentine's Day is round the corner and if the weather stays the way it is, then I'll update you on the food as well.
This is the inside seating area of the bar. The lighting in the photo doesn't do the place justice so I decided to add this one in daylight.
