BAHRAIN IS NOT AN ASHTRAY (#bahrainisnotanashtray)
2.53 million (2.530.000) cigarette butts are thrown in Bahrain out to nature every day
An average of 6.5 trillion (6.500.000.000.000) cigarettes are sold around the world each year, which translates to roughly 18 billion (18.000.000.000) cigarettes per day. Out of them around 4.5 trillion (4.500.000.000.000) are thrown or dumped into nature and the environment. Broken down for Bahrain it means every year we have an average of 1.33 billion (1.340.000.000) cigarettes sold and 923 million (923.000.000) thrown elsewhere than a bin. It is an average of 2.53 million (2.530.000) cigarette butts every day which are endangering our animals and nature. Thanks to the so-called "responsible" smokers, since when you ask them it seems everyone is throwing their butts into an ashtray or a waste bin, our tiny island is covered from all those butts. Disgusting and dangerous. None of them would throw a butt in their, living room, kitchen, house or garden, but outside - Khallas here we go.
Cigarettes make up more than one-third—nearly 38 percent—of all collected litter. Disposing of cigarettes on the ground or out of a car is so common that 75 percent of smokers report doing it.
Littered cigarette butts leach toxic chemicals—such as arsenic (used to kill rats) and lead, to name only a few—into the environment and can contaminate water. The toxic exposure can poison fish, as well as animals who eat cigarette butts, like birds, or even your beloved pet - dogs and cats.
BAHRAIN IS NOT AN ASHTRAY (#bahrainisnotanashtray), treat your environment like your home, treat Mother Earth as like you treat your mother. You would never throw a butt at her, won't you?
Be aware and join BBCC to get rid of the toxic time bombs all over our beautiful island.

Smoking cigarettes is a disgusting habit, bad for your health and the environment. That is one bad habit I thank God I don't have.
