A pharmacy in Riffa has been shut down after disinfectants were found being sold at inflated prices, GDNonline reported tonight.
The Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry said it had found that a disinfectant product of 250ml was being sold at 81 per cent profit and 500ml at 105pc profit following an increase in demand for hygiene products during the current Covid-19 crisis.
The ministry condemned the practice of traders exploiting the current circumstances for monetary gains and urged all shops to display the proper price of the products after adding a reasonable profit margin.
The ministry added that it will continue inspecting pharmacies, shops, markets and other outlets to ensure products are being sold at reasonable prices and sound trading practices are being followed.
Legal action will be taken against violators, it warned.
