A tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York City has tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19).
It is the first known case of a human infecting an animal and making it sick, according to the zoo's chief veterinarian Paul Calle.
Nadia, the four-year-old Malayan tiger, was screened for the Covid-19 after developing a dry cough.
Three other tigers and three lions were also tested, said the Wildlife Conservation Society.
All of the cats are expected to recover.
Officials believe this is a unique case because Nadia became sick after exposure to an asymptomatic zoo employee, who has not been identified.
