“Oh, no!” The Coronavirus said
These hands are getting wiser
“Oh, no! Oh, no! Oh, no! Oh, no!
These hands have sanitiser!”
“How can I multiply?” It mused
With a sanitiser barrier!
Then it espied some hands that weren’t
Quite so well protected
“Ah hah!” it thought, “I see a hand
Of the kind that I’d selected.”
“Oh boo!” It rued as the hand went faceward
“A mask, I have detected!”
“Oh, what shall I do? I’ll jump this cue!
I must find a hand that’s free and fair
On a man or a woman or a child that dares
To pretend I don’t exist
And then I’ll show, I’ll show ‘em all
What happens when they don’t resist.
It leapt and it jumped from a trolley to a rail
From a basket to a kiddie’s pigtail
Then it crept and it crawled to finally land
On the wrist of the kiddie’s dear little hand
When the kiddie went home
“Aah! Said Corona I think I’m done”
But…
The good little kiddie she washed her hands
And she sang and she sang as she washed her hands
So down the drain in the lather it went
And Corona V moaned, “Why do I bother?
I think
I’m all
s…p…e…n…t!
Lament of the Corona Virus
