This image of an elderly Bahraini woman from Bani Jamra has gone viral on social media and evoked emotions of national duty and responsibility.
It shows the Bahraini grandmother cleaning the side of a road at a time when migrant street cleaners have not been able to do so due to the current Covid-19 crisis.
Even Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, who is His Majesty King Hamad’s Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs, shared the post to his over 530,000 followers on Twitter.
"When cleaners stop working, our mothers step in,” stated the post.
