132 people referred to Public Prosecution for violating Covid-19 precautionary measures



A TOTAL of 132 people have been referred to the Public Prosecution by the Health Ministry for violating precautionary measures in place to combat the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19), writes the GDN's Reem Al Daaysi.

According to the Public Health Directorate, 126 people were referred for violating home quarantine rules.

Four commercial store managers were also referred for violating laws to monitor health and safety measures in stores and industrial areas to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Legal action was also sought against two other people who violated decisions to shut down commercial and industrial stores to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“The punishment for breaking home quarantine is a jail sentence of up to three months or a fine of no less than BD1,000 and not more than BD10,000,” said a ministry statement.
