EXPATRIATES in Bahrain have been urged to contribute to a national initiative aimed at mitigating the impact of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on people and businesses, the GDN reported today.
The ‘Feena Khair’ (There is Good in Us) campaign is led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, and supported by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty King Hamad for humanitarian and youth affairs, National Security Adviser and Royal Humanitarian Fund (RHF) board of trustees chairman.
The campaign has already received a BD1 million contribution from Shaikh Nasser and a total of BD29m from various local agencies and individuals.
Based on the impressive volume of contributions received, RHF secretary-general Dr Mustafa Al Sayed announced last night that the RHF will be holding a special event to be aired on Bahrain Television on Friday during which prominent speakers will take part in efforts to increase awareness of Covid-19 developments and guidelines.
Noting that expatriates played a key role in the national economy, Dr Al Sayed said the support of the expat community was integral to efforts aimed at mitigating the spread of the virus.
He said by popular demand, the drive has been extended to April 30 to give a maximum number of people a chance to donate.
