BAHRAIN is poised to witness a surge in active Covid-19 cases in the coming days as mass testing continues, said a top health official, the GDN reported today.
National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (Covid-19) Monitoring Committee head Lieutenant Colonel Dr Manaf Al Qahtani, however, said this was an indication that Bahrain was stepping up its screening process.
He was speaking at a virtual Press conference last night in the presence of senior government officials.
“If you do more tests, you will have more cases,” explained Lt Col Dr Al Qahtani.
“However, this does not mean things are alright and we can relax.
“We have received warnings from the World Health Organisation that society should not take things easy.
“We have extended the random testing process to include citizens and expatriates.
“We have also identified the most populated areas and are conducting tests there to identify the active cases and combat them as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, Covid-19 Task Force member Dr Jameela Salman revealed all the affected children were safe and recovering.
