BAHRAIN has the lowest rate of deaths and active cases of the coronavirus among Gulf and many Asian nations, an international seminar was told, the GDN reported today.
This has been possible thanks to various measures taken by the government, said senior journalist and YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) Bahrain president Soman Baby.
He was speaking at a webinar organised by the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA) on the ‘Plight of Migrant Workers amidst the Covid-19 crisis’.
Among the most vulnerable to the impact of the pandemic in Asia and the Gulf are migrant workers, he said, underlining the measures taken by the Bahrain government to combat the spread of the virus, and to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on individuals and businesses.
The webinar was the first in a series of virtual conferences launched by CCA which has its headquarters in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Eight panel members and about 100 specially invited participants joined the event. CCA general secretary Dr Mathews George Chunakara moderated the webinar.
