The fourth group of Bahrainis has been evacuated from Jordan amid the coronavirus pandemic, the GDN reported today.
They included 144 citizens who were stranded in Jordan and were brought home yesterday.
Bahrain’s Ambassador to Amman Ahmed Al Rowaie praised efforts by Jordanian authorities in helping the embassy to bring back the Bahrainis.
“We thank the Jordanian authorities for their co-operation with Bahrain’s Embassy in Jordan as we were able to bring Bahrainis back home,” he said.
“A total of 144 Bahrainis were brought back home and this was the fourth group.”
He added that the embassy co-ordinated efforts with Jordan’s Foreign Ministry to facilitate the evacuation process.
A total of 6,422 Bahrainis abroad have registered for the government’s International Covid-19 Repatriation Programme (ICRP), of which more than half have been evacuated so far from various countries around the world.
Foreign Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa previously said that the process will continue until the end of May – pledging that no Bahraini will be left behind.
