Dog and cat lovers, are you looking for something fun to do while you're stuck at home? If so, look no further than Lucia and Willow's The Bachelorette on Facebook!
Lucia, a cute Yorkshire Terrier, and Willow, a short-haired house cat both based in the USA are looking for love and with more than 50 suitors around the world they're sure to find it!
It's not the kind of thing I would usually take part in. But, since being confined mostly to home due to COVID-19, I've become increasingly agitated by the stream of distressing virus related news not to mention irritating conspiracy theories and fake stories flooding my social media newsfeed. Obviously I could just back off social media for a while but since Baloo's Buddies now has to work mostly through Facebook and Instagram rather than face to face meetings and projects that isn't going to work.
What to do?
Fortuitously I was invited to take part in a Facebook based version of The Bachelorette with Baloo, my chocolate labrador. Could this be the answer to my newsfeed woes? Baloo has some smooth moves and rather good looks so for sure he had a good chance of winning the love of one of the gals I thought!
I signed up in a flash and within days my newsfeed has been transformed; most of the doom and gloom has been replaced with the hilarious antics of The Bachelorette. We may be thousands of miles apart but we're having a blast! I've only ever chatted with the organiser before so it's fascinating how more than 50 dog and cat owners have become Facebook Friends so quickly - of course there may be an axe murderer or three (just kidding guys!) among the the participants so I won't be giving out personal information...
Modelled on the TV show The Bachelorette, the design of the online canine and feline version is the brain child of Pete Nutter - a dachsund - well I guess his owner does the typing - supported by co-producers Talulah Aroha and Franky Achenbach. There are roving reporters Roses Allen, Shasha Krutolow and Bikou Tranholm all with 'real' canine and feline personas. Shhhh don't tell Facebook that there are dogs and cats running the show!
With rose giving ceremonies, group dates as well as pool parties back at the mansion, dinner dates and spa sessions, it's just like the real thing! Did I mention gossip? Yes, there's lots of gossip!
In fact, Baloo has just returned to the mansion following his Group Date at New York's Fashion Week with Lucia. There he dazzled in his fashion forward outfits. He even managed to work out which was his best paw to put forward on the catwalk and sang to his beloved Lucia late into the night. Yes, I know, I'm a crazy dog momma!
