SEVERAL private hospitals in Bahrain have been authorised to conduct the coronavirus (Covid-19) tests for a fee, the GDN reported today.
According to National Health Regulatory Authority chief executive Dr Mariam Al Jalahma, the facilities that have been permitted to offer the service are Ibn Al Nafees Hospital, Al Kindi Hospital, Royal Bahrain Hospital, Bahrain Specialist Hospital, Al Salam Specialist Hospital, American Mission Hospital, Dr Tariq Hospital, Noor Specialist Hospital and Awali Hospital.
She said only regular people or non-suspect cases with no symptoms for whom the conditions of public testing don’t apply will be checked under this system.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 testing, quarantine and treatment will continue for free for all citizens and residents.
“The private hospitals will conduct the tests on their premises and send the samples to the Public Health Laboratory,” Dr Al Jalama said in a statement yesterday.
“The person will be informed of the result with a few charged a fee, based on the hospital providing the service.
“All the tests will be according to the World Health Organisation protocols and are part of efforts to limit the spread of Covid-19.”
