I have a friend, Wafa, she’s Moroccan and she’s definitely an animal lover. She’s just an individual and she doesn’t belong to any charities or any animal welfare groups here in Bahrain.
She’s alone and doing it alone, because it’s her passion and it's what her heart desires. She’s well known to some animal welfare group members here in Bahrain because they know what she does.
She have more than 200 stray cats & dogs feeding everyday (literally everyday) to different areas in part of Muharraq and Busaiteen. She also has many rescued stray cats staying with her in her flat which she take care of them everyday because some of them requires special needs & attention. Whenever she sees an injured or sick cat outside while she’s feeding, she doesn’t hesitate to take them to vet clinics. She take the strays for spaying/neutering, for them to be healthy and to atleast controp their growing population.
She’s just relying from people’s donations and people with good heart, whether it’s cat food, cat litter, cat supplies or monetary donations.
If no donations receive, she uses her own money to buy such things because she can’t stand to see the animals starving, so she sacrifices her own money or borrow money to some of her friends and pay it later.
She’s even paying for taxi monthly, which she uses to go and feed the strays from place to place different areas, and when taking the cats to the vet. She's paying for petsitters for some of her rescued strays as she is very full now and can't take cats in her flat anymore.
She’s very dedicated and I pity her situation. It’s hard but she’s continuosly doing it.
She’s an expat and not originally from Bahrain, and it’s been years since she last saw her family and since she last went home to her country. This is because she can’t leave her beloved stray cats behind.
Nobody wants to volunteer to feed them and take care of them while she’s away that’s why she can’t go for a vacation, it’s hard for her to abandon them even just for a month. She always prioritizse their sake.
I'm just hoping that more people will help her so she can go on with her good deeds and hardworks. Strays deserve some love also.
