Many roof tops in Bahrain are not used or used for storing unwanted stuff,  some have A/C units spreaded around and some are completely abandoned. There is a big potential to cultivate those areas and give a great sense to use them as open sky retreat area or roof garden for relaxation and other chillin activities. Special nowadays people are concerned to mingle with other humans in big areas and would carve for some smaller outside space.

Hence a houseowner came up with the idea to turn the roof top into something special, something useful and something for the community.

The idea of the Roof Top Environmental Community Center was born.  An area open to public, where small groups can gather, exchange experience, do workshops, some handcraft as well as plan environmental activities and presentations.

Now, where to start. After few sessions of brainstorning with the houseowner the idea was published and various people reverted back with  feedback on the idea. Some came up  with planting, a greenhouse, wall paintings,  handcraft area, recyclables collection area, space for work shops, like candle recycling, pottery as well as exercise yoga or meditation, a stage for unplugged gigs.

One key factor is to make it environmental friendly, like using wooden pallets as flooring or recylable materials with plenty of green plantings to feel the nature as well it should be suitable for all generations, means various spaces for different uses. 

Any volunteer or group is welcome to bring their ideas on the table and execute it if suitable. Some groups already confirmed their participation, like Bahrain EcoHub, a enthusiastic youth environmental group (https://www.instagram.com/bahrain_ecohub/) and Art Attack, as well a young group of graffity artists (https://www.instagram.com/art.attack.krew/).

Some showed interest like Candle of Hope and members of Youth Vision Initiative and some spread some ideas.

Nevertheless it needs commitment and the enthusiasm to execute it as well. The houseowner will support any of the suitable actions in order to make the Roof Top Environmental Community Center become reality....step by step...
