A life well spent on the path to inclusion. May his message live on in our hearts, minds and actions.
The day you died we were up at five
Of course you had to go out
I think you knew your time was short
And needed extra hours to gad about
The day you died you refused to budge
Except for a trail of treats
I think you knew your time was short
And wanted to have plenty of eats
The day you died you wanted to sniff
As much as any dog should
I think you knew your time was short
And drank in all the smells you could
The day you died you kept us on our toes
And barked if ever we moved
I think you knew your time was short
And made sure your love was proved
The day you died you begged for a walk
Even though your legs weren’t good
I think you knew your time was short
And desired one more stroll in the ‘hood
The day you died you took a piece of my heart
I know you’ll look after it well
You spent your life spreading an important tale
That resonated far like a bell
For the day you died we smiled a lot,
Though many were our tears
So thankful we’re not short of time
Your journey to tell to all ears
For the day you died we look to the future
And vow to keep our gaze firm
On a place where all are accepted
And no one is left to squirm
For the day you died your message rang true
Be kind, accept and spread joy
Make inclusion a fact not long overdue
That’s how we’ll celebrate this boy!
