Bahrain registered 29 deaths yesterday – the highest daily toll since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
Yesterday’s deaths pushed behind the highest fatalities record of 28, registered on May 24.
The deaths also crossed a grim milestone of 1,000-mark, with the total fatalities now at 1,009.
The Health Ministry said 2,259 new cases were registered yesterday, alongside 2,804 recoveries.
Of the new cases, 983 were expat workers, 1,274 contacts of local cases and two travel-related.
An additional 2,804 people recovered, taking the total recoveries to 213,827.
Of the 27,954 active cases, 427 are receiving treatment and 326 in critical condition.
Bahrain has so far registered a total of 242,790 cases.
The kingdom has conducted 4,658,664 virus tests.
