Reports in Indian press speak of a couple who are growing rare, expensive Miyazaki mangoes have employed guards and dog squad to protect their mango crop. According to them, the mangoes could cost up to Rs 2.7 lakhs (BD1,350). Miyazaki mangoes are of Japanese origin and takes a lot of effort to grow and hence the higher cost. It's generally given as gift in Japan. Of course, not every lot is sold for that princely sum. Meanwhile, let's satify our mango mania with the more down to earth varieties before they vanish.
