John was in grade 3 starting. One day his father (William) started to have very bad stomach pain.

John’s family took William to all the nearby hospitals but no one found any problem. Many days went by William still was suffering. William couldn’t stand the pain any longer so they took him to the international hospital. Then William was diagnosed with cancer. He had only a week left to live. No one told him that he was going to die in a few days.

After his death John’s family started to have a lot of financial problems. That’s when John had to stop his study and help his family.

His mother (Isabella) started to work at other people's houses. After working the whole day, they would give a little bit of rice with water. She would drink the water and give her children the rice to eat. They all suffered a lot. Isabella had only one saree. She could wear half the saree and let the other half dry. Again, wear the other half and let the rest half dry.

When John became a little old, he started to work at other people's houses. The people didn’t pay with money they use to give him food instead. Days went by, John became a little older the house owners started to pay him with a small amount of money. He started to save some money.

After a while, he had enough money to go somewhere better to work. So, he went to the city and started to work very hard. Slowly their financial state started to improve. Now he could provide his family with enough food and clothes.

His sister got married and had four sons. But after a while, her husband left her and married another woman. Her husband didn’t even give a penny to them. Since that day John started helping her. John use to sell milk in the city. With that money, he helped his nephews’ study. He loved his sister and nephews so much that he would always give them all the money he earned and he wouldn’t even keep a penny for himself. Also, he would never buy clothes for himself. Whatever they needed he would buy that for them. While selling milk he would work part-time at a house.

He used to work very hard and was very kind to them. They use to treat him like a brother. The owner loved him so much, that they helped him come to Bahrain.
