A Bahraini ran an entire marathon in full military uniform and was recognised for his achievement by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Abdullah Attiya broke the world record in the UAE by running the ADNOC Abu Dhabi marathon in three hours, 40 minutes and seven seconds.
“A record that hasn’t been broken since 2009 has finally been broken,” said Mr Attiya in his Twitter post on Monday.
“Only a few people know what I have gone through to get this.”
On the Guinness Book of World Record website, it is said that Mr Attiya attempted this record as a personal achievement and as an inspiration to the youth of Bahrain.
