Pioneering Radio Bahrain unveils first NFT

The kingdom’s first-ever English-language radio station is pioneering the industry by releasing its first limited edition Non-Fungible Token (NFT).

Radio Bahrain 96.5 is among the first stations globally to launch its own NFT and did so with the help of Bahraini artist Leena Al Ayoobi.

An urgent parliamentary proposal has been submitted to tighten oversight on wage support programmes administered by Bahrain’s Labour Fund, Tamkeen, following repeated cases of fraud committed by some private sector institutions. The proposal, spearheaded by Parliament’s services committee vice-chairman Mohammed Al Olaiwi, calls for the implementation of stricter verification procedures to ensure that only genuinely employed Bahrainis benefit from Tamkeen’s financial support.

The Youth City 2030 initiative reflects Bahrain’s commitment to supporting and empowering young people, recognising their important role in national development and in shaping the country’s future, Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi said yesterday. She announced that the 14th edition of Youth City 2030 will begin tomorrow at Exhibition World Bahrain and is organised by the ministry in strategic partnership with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen).

The Lower Criminal Court continues to hear the case of 22 administrators and employees of a family business that has been accused of putting expired food products on sale after altering the validity dates on the packaging. Alongside the defendants, two food distribution companies are also standing trial as an ‘artificial person’. The hearing has been adjourned to July 22 for the Public Prosecution to respond to defence arguments while the suspects continue to be remanded into custody.

Bahrain Fort’s role as a cultural and economic hub in the region came under the spotlight at a special seminar organised to mark the 20th anniversary of the site being designated as a Unesco World Heritage Site. The event was held in Paris on the sidelines of the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee which continues until Wednesday. The seminar was part of the kingdom’s efforts to raise global awareness of the Bahrain Fort as an exceptional archaeological site, the heart of the ancient Dilmun Civilisation, and a living testament to the flourishing successive civilisations in Bahrain.
