A new multiplex has opened its doors to movie lovers in the kingdom with the aim of offering unique cinematic and memorable experiences for the entire family to enjoy.
The $10 million Epix Cinemas, located in LuLu Group’s Dana Mall, was inaugurated last night by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa alongside LuLu Group chairman and managing director Yusuff Ali MA, Dadabai Holding chairman Abbas Dadabai and managing directors Qutub Dadabai and Hatim Dadabai.
“I congratulate Dadabai Holding for its stylish investment in the leisure and entertainment industry of the kingdom,” said Mr Ali MA at the glitzy launch ceremony. “Both these sectors are valuable components of Bahrain’s growing tourism industry.
“The presence of this state-of-the-art cinema in Dana Mall rounds off our offering to the public and positions us as one of the country’s complete family retail and leisure destinations.”
After the ribbon-cutting, the theatre’s timeline from its inaugural signing ceremony in 2020 to its official opening was unveiled to dignitaries, invited guests and members of the media.
This was followed by a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities. The complex’s management added in a statement that ‘Epix Cinemas engaged with LuLu Group for its strategic location at Dana Mall in the heart of town, and with Mukta A2 Cinemas as a management and operations partner, in order to bring together the synergies in
delivering a truly unique experience for Bahrain’.
“I think after the pandemic, people don’t watch movies like before,” said Mr Hatim Dadabai. “They want more of an experience. So we wanted to create an experience for them where they could come and enjoy the food, the seats and the sound system.
“People can sit on their sofas for four to five hours at home but they never really remember those movies, in my opinion. However, you always remember the movies you watch at the cinema! I watched the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 the other day and I will always remember that experience ... and that’s what we want to do, to offer a unique experience.
“The reason that we invested so much in this location is because I feel it is one of the best in town. We wouldn’t have done it otherwise.”
The cinema, which boasts 10 screens and 1,125 seats, is equipped with the latest technologies such as Laser Projection and Dolby Atmos 3D Surround Sound.
Movie-goers can choose from the latest movie releases across all languages such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Super Mario Bros Movie and John Wick: Chapter 4.
There are luxurious seating options such as recliner leather seats and scrumptious multi-cuisine food and beverage offerings.
Epix Kinder for the little ones features a play area where they can climb and slide safely while watching their movie of choice.
Epix VIP aims to provide a ‘new definition’ in cinema luxury and Epix XL theatre is equipped with luxurious lower and upper-level seating options such as a balcony experience.
“Our cinema is one of the best in the Gulf region,” added Mr Dadabai who also thanked government agencies and the Economic Development Board for their continuous support and LuLu Group for the opportunity to ‘bring the best state-of-the-art cinema to Bahrain’.
“One special option we came up with was to deliver a full menu to any seat – not only VIP. “You go and order your popcorn, drink and other dishes from our menu and it will be delivered to your seat even if you’ve only paid BD3.500 to watch the action.
“The butler service is open to everybody. The kid’s cinema is also unique, the XL seats 300 and the VIP section, well no one else has this kind of VIP in Bahrain, I promise!”
Dadabai Holding will also be launching a first-of-its-kind, state-of-the-art e-sports gaming hub, which will also be a part of the multiplex to provide ‘the best gaming experience’ for the fast-growing e-gaming sector.
