Al Ain, UAE: The United Arab Emirates University has announced the start of its intensive preparations to participate in the work of the 12th session of the “International Government Communication Forum 2023” on September 13-14, which is organised by the Sharjah Government Media Office, at the Expo Centre Sharjah. The University's participation will start with an event before the official day of the forum.
Prof. Ahmed Murad, Associate Provost for Research at UAEU, pointed out that the university will also organise this year, on the sidelines of the forum, the “University Challenge” competition in partnership with the Sharjah Award for Government Communication, which opens the door for the first time to distinguished competitions among the UAE universities and universities from outside the country to obtain the Challenge Award. The Award includes a certificate of appreciation with the Universities’ Challenge Shield. The 1st place will receive 80,000 dirhams, 60,000 dirhams for the 2nd place, and 40,000 dirhams for the 3rd place.
Prof. Murad said: “The competition aims to activate the role of university students to contribute positively in the various fields of government communication, in addition to employing their abilities and harnessing their skills in serving their societies in a sustainable manner, in efforts to make universities ideal places that exude innovation and creativity in sustainable practices.”
He added, “UAEU is keen on developing innovative and creative thinking among university students and urging them to harness modern and advanced technology and smart applications to find alternative and sustainable solutions to contemporary challenges. The areas of participation for this year are based on the concept of sustainable development, coinciding with the Year of Sustainability in the UAE and the hosting of the most prominent global event “COP28” during the period from November 30 to December 12, 2023.
Prof. Ahmed Murad explained: “We are pleased to participate for the second time in a row in this important forum through a session on the role of education and media in achieving sustainability, to highlight the efforts in keeping pace with the directions of the wise leadership to raise the level of sustainability, and highlight the role of educational institutions in supporting “COP 28” conference. We look forward to our initiatives contributing to achieving the goals of the sustainable development goals, and to being part of the success of the efforts of this important conference at the global level. We also look forward to benefiting from the best practices in the field of corporate communication that will be presented during the forum and working to build institutional partnerships that contribute to achieving our common aspirations towards excellence and leadership.
