Al Dhaheri bags two podiums at Mugello

At the weekend Rashid Al Dhaheri, the region’s leading single-seat racing driver competed in round 6 of the Italian F4 Series, at the challenging Mugello circuit near Florence in Italy, where the Championship staged three races for the penultimate meeting of this year’s highly competitive series.

Emirati driver, Rashid Al Dhaheri again showed his tremendous potential posting two rookie podium finishes, a second and third place, after finishing 4th and 5th place in the overall standings for the first two races.  The opportunity to post another good finish in the third and final race was taken away when his left rear tire suffered a puncture.  These great finishes show the momentum he has developed through the year which he will be able to take through to the last race of the season.

Driving for the Prema race team with backing from Yas Heat he is one of the youngest competitors on the grid and each race he is building up his race-craft and experience.  The Italian F4 Championship is recognized as the most competitive series for young drivers and for this reason it is seen as the most important development formula for F1 prospects.

After the races Al Dhaheri, commented: “This was a great weekend for me, and I was pleased I could show my pace and deliver two rookie podium finishes.  I know that I can maintain the progress we are making through continued hard work and detailed preparation.  The Italian F4 series is intensely competitive but with the support I am getting from my team, my family and from the UAE I am confident that I will keep learning and improving.”

Now with just one race to go in the Italian F4 Championship everything is to play for as the drivers prepare for the last meeting in two weeks’ time (15th October 2023) at the Vallelunga circuit, north of Rome.

“Vallelunga is my next focus and I want to be able to keep developing my knowledge and skills”, added Al Dhaheri, “but even after Vallelunga we still have one more race meeting in the Euro4 Championship, which is on the 22nd October in Barcelona, so I will need to keep working right to the end of what has been a very busy and demanding season.”
