The African Games’ landmark Mixed Martial Arts tournament concluded yesterday in Ghana with competition finals and medals ceremonies on the continental Olympic platform.
National teams representing in the finals were Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana, Libya, Mauritius, Nigeria, Sudan, Togo and Uganda.
Following the disqualification of Holonou Song (Benin) and Muammar Felfel (Libya) due to breach of GAMMA’s Code of Conduct, Sookhoo Bhirsing faced Kotoka Felix to determine the silver and bronze medallists for the 56,7 KG / - 125 Lbs category.

The amateur rules MMA tournament played out from Sunday 10 to Monday 12 March under the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA), joining 6 other demonstration sports among 30 total disciplines. 8 of these are holding qualifiers for this summer’s Paris 2024 Games.
