The Alien in Aanyas Lens

Summer at Grandma and Grandpa's was always the best part of Aanyas year. On a bright morning, she grabbed her camera, excited to complete her holiday homework—to capture something new. In the cozy kitchen, Grandma packed her lunch: a sandwich and a bottle of orange juice.

"Aanya, dear," Grandma said with a smile, "make sure you're back before dinner. Have fun exploring!"

"I will, Grandma!" Aanya promised, slinging her camera bag over her shoulder. "I'm going to find something amazing to photograph!"

With a wave and a heart full of curiosity, Aanya dashed outside, ready to uncover the wonders.

Aanya was exploring a quiet woodland grove near her home. As she wandered, she stumbled across a peculiar creature. It had bright blue skin, big bug-like eyes, and wiggly antennas. She was stunned and filled with wonder as she observed the different shades of blue and the strange, almost rubbery texture of its skin. She realized, with a mix of excitement and disbelief, that it was an alien.

"Hi!" Aanya greeted the creature, but it didn’t respond in the way she expected. Instead, the alien began making strange gestures with its hands and antennas. Aanya was puzzled. Why was it saying "with me"? Did it have more friends with it? Was there something else she was missing?

The alien pointed again, this time more insistently. Ananya followed the direction of its point and saw a shiny, small spaceship parked nearby. She finally understood. "Oh, you want me to go with you," she said, realization dawning.

Aanya felt a mix of emotions. "Why don't you come to my house instead?" she asked, hoping to show the alien her world. The alien shook its head, then moved its entire body in a way that was so comical it made Aanya laugh. Slowly, it repeated, "Wiiitthh me..."

Aanya shook her head, feeling a little disheartened. "I'm not coming to your planet," she murmured. She showed the alien her camera, trying to explain. "Look! This is my precious camera," she exclaimed excitedly, waving it in front of the alien. "I have holiday homework to take pictures of something new, and I'm going to take the best pictures ever!"

She gasped suddenly and quickly clicked a picture of the creature. The alien stumbled back and fell, startled by the flash even before the camera clicked. Ananya laughed and continued, "See how we can take pictures using this! Our world is so colorful; I wouldn't want to leave it."

The alien's antennas wiggled with curiosity. He leaned closer, his large eyes fixed on the camera in Aanyas hand. "Aaa... potato!" he exclaimed, sounding strangely delighted.

Aanya sighed and decided to try something different. She pointed at a tree nearby. "Tree," she said clearly.

"Potato," the alien replied.

She pointed at a bird flying overhead. "Bird."

"Potato," the alien repeated.

With growing exasperation, Aanya pointed at the sky, the sun, the grass, the plants, her own eyes, and her dress. Each time, the alien responded with the same word: "Potato, potato, potato."

For everything, it seemed, the alien only knew one word. Aanya sighed deeply, her long, jet-black hair shimmering like silk in the sunlight. "No, not potato," she said softly, feeling a bit frustrated. The alien continued to touch her hair, clearly fascinated. She was getting cheesed off, thinking about how adorable the creature was and wondering if she could take it home. But how could she take it home when she wasn’t ready to go to its planet?

She understood the alien's excitement in finding someone as different as she felt when she saw it. But it didn’t even understand what a camera was. Dumb alien, she thought.

Frustrated, Aanya shouted, "GO STUPID GO!" The alien vibrated, sensing the frequency of her tone. But then, it did something unexpected. it smiled, a wide grin spreading across its alien face. Aanya noticed he didn't have teeth and kind of looked like Baby Yoda. She chuckled at the thought, shaking her head.

Before she could complete her thought, the spaceship doors closed with a gentle hum and a whoosh, breaking her line of thought. The alien looked at Aanya meaningfully and said, "You planet potato planet. Nice you potato being."

Aanya watched as the spaceship zoomed away into the sky. Just after it flew off, she thought, "Maybe, just maybe, it was right about that one."

I had penned down a poem based on the same 2 years back. Just had a random feeling to write down a small adorable story based on it for kids.. the term potato finally at the end is indirectly termed as uninteresting

Not that our world isn't interesting, its just a depiction and idea of how there could be loads of possibility for other unimaginable things to exist, possibly even more exciting than the one's we're excited for now.
