Supertri three peat for Georgia Taylor-Brown

Georgia Taylor-Brown was victorious at Supertri Toulouse over the weekend, snapping up her third consecutive win and leading the Bahrain Victorious 13-sponsored Crown Racing to the top of the teams leaderboard in the penultimate race in the series.

The British athlete won the supersprint format, three nonstop rounds of a 300-metre swim, four-kilometre bike, and 1.6-kilometre run by staying on the pointy end of the competition throughout then putting on the speed in the last run of the day to break the tape four seconds ahead of the field.

She now leads the women’s standings by 6 points, giving herself the advantage at claiming her second Supertri series title at the Grand Final in NEOM, Saudi Arabia next month.

Said Taylor-Brown, “When you’re at the top and winning, you definitely want more… That’s three wins going into the final in NEOM and I feel quite happy and safe. I told myself I’d go for a non-wetsuit [first swim] ahead of the race and I stuck to that. I knew it was going to be cold and that I’d lose time, but I’m happy with that decision.”

Kate Waugh took the final women’s podium spot of the day after racing shoulder-to-shoulder with Taylor-Brown. Cassandre Beaugrand finished just behind her, but was disqualified for having her helmet undone while handling her bike. Barbara de Koning was eliminated after the second swim, a casualty of the furious racing pace up front.

In the men’s race, Hayden Wilde solidified his place atop the men’s series leaderboard by taking bronze in a nailbiter after losing his shoe in the home stretch. Vincent Luis kept the pressure on in the front group, finishing sixth. Vetle Bergsvik Thorn finished two spots down, while Max Stapley faced a DQ.

Crown Racing topped the Toulouse team standings by six points to amass an overall lead of 14 points.

Supertri racing now takes a break for the World Triathlon Championship final next week where the 2024 World Triathlon champions will be crowned. Beaugrand currently leads the women’s leaderboard, while Wilde in third remains in serious contention.
