Councillors want to replace recently installed solar powered street lighting with conventional options because they claim they are not powerful or consistent enough to do the job adequately.
Muharraq Municipal Council members in their meeting yesterday cited repeated failures that had left many areas in darkness raising growing concerns from residents and motorists.
Adequate street lighting is essential for ensuring safety and security in urban and rural areas, helping to reduce crime rates and providing safe passage for pedestrians and vehicles, they highlighted.
