A word, when read or heard will conjure a unique image in the mind of the reader/listener. Unique, because each individual has his or her perspective on everything, which exists within the reality they have created for themselves. For example, the word 'love', will form a different image in each individual's mind. Each image is viewed differently for the same reality.
The word may be the same but the image will be uniquely different. So we could potentially have a billion individuals envisioning billions of unique images.
Why is this important to appreciate?
Environment, society, family, learning and experiences shape each reality. Harmony between people can only be achieved if people accept that different individuals and communities have different realities.
Openness and engagement broaden and deepen our understanding shaping our individual and collective perspectives. Only then can we appreciate and respect the perspectives of others.
The foundation of a thriving civilisation is respect, not mere tolerance.
