Saudi Arabia launches world's first AI medical clinic

Imagine walking into a clinic and instead of a human doctor diagnosing and prescribing you medicine, it's an advanced artificial intelligence doing all the work.

This futuristic dream is now a reality as Saudi Arabia just launched the world's first AI medical clinic.

Synyi AI, a Chinese medical technology company, has partnered with Almoosa Health Group in Saudi Arabia to introduce 'Dr. Hua', an AI "doctor".

The programme, which is still in its trial phase, would allow patients to tell the AI "doctor" their conditions and symptoms using a tablet computer. Dr. Hua would then be able to ask follow-up questions and even analyse images and scans of the patient to make a diagnosis.

Once the consultation is over, Dr. Hua can suggest a treatment plan, which is then thoroughly reviewed by a human doctor.

Currently, the AI doctor can only diagnose respiratory illnesses, covering about 30 diseases such as asthma and pharyngitis.

The trial programme's diagnostic data will then be submitted to Saudi authorities for approval for more widespread use of the technology.
