Photo expo celebrates Bahrain-Italy relations

A photography exhibition commemorating ties between Italy and Bahrain has opened at the Bahrain National Museum.

The ‘Crossroads – A visual dialogue between Italy & Bahrain’ is being organised by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca), marking the 21st edition of the Contemporary Art Day, promoted by the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums.

This year’s theme is ‘Education, understood as an exchange of experiences and knowledge’.

Italian Ambassador Andrea Catalano expressed his gratitude to Baca for its collaboration.

“This exhibition beautifully showcases the deep connections between Italian and Bahraini cultures,” he added.

“The artists have skilfully captured moments of connection, enabling us to recognise each other as people at the centre of our own seas, crossed by many cultures.

Baca emphasised how the exhibition reflects the two countries’ shared belief in the influence art creates by reaching across cultures and geographic distance.

The exhibition features works by four distinguished female photographers Hanan Al Khalifa and Ghada Khunji (Bahraini), and Loredana Mantello and Valentina Costa (Italian).
