Young Archaeologist programme opens

The fifth edition of the Young Archaeologist programme has been launched by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca).

Hosted at Qal’at Al Bahrain site, the programme, which runs until January 2026, offers an immersive learning experience that combines theory with practice at archaeological sites supervised by the authority.

The young participants, children of fallen servicemen and Interior Ministry employees, were given an opportunity to explore the archaeology field through hands-on excavation and restoration activities including uncovering pre-buried artefacts and practising basic conservation techniques using tools inspired by professional fieldwork.

Baca antiquities director Shaikh Ebrahim bin Humood Al Khalifa said the programme reflects the authority’s commitment to fostering early appreciation for national heritage, as well as strengthening the younger generation’s sense of identity and belonging by deepening their understanding of Bahrain’s rich cultural history.
