An archaeology walkathon celebrating Bahrain’s rich history and cultural identity was held over the weekend.
Organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) in collaboration with the French Embassy, the five-kilometre walk began at Bahrain Fort, and continued through Hillat Abdul Saleh, Al Maqsha as well as Al Hajar and Shakhura burial mounds, before concluding at Abu Saiba.
Around 250 people, including ambassadors, diplomats, citizens and residents, participated in the event, and learned about each site and the most significant discoveries made there over the past decades.
The initiative was part of the Bahraini-French archaeological collaboration Week, marking the 20th anniversary of Bahrain Fort’s inscription on the Unesco World Heritage List.
