Minister turns gamer ahead of elective course launch

A lively video of Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma showing off his electronic gaming skills has caused a stir online – and it comes with perfect timing.

The Education Ministry is gearing up to launch a brand new elective course, Gaming 100, for secondary school students starting from the second semester next year.

A premiere of the course is expected in the coming days, following an earlier teaser posted on the ministry’s social media platforms that quickly grabbed the attention of students, parents and gaming enthusiasts.

The announcement appeared in the form of a retro-style console flashing the message “Gaming 100”, hinting at a course that blends nostalgia with modern innovation.

Speaking exclusively to the GDN Media, Dr Juma said the new programme reflects the ministry’s commitment to equipping students with future-ready skills.

“Gaming today is a global industry, and our students are already highly engaged with it,” Dr Juma said.
