Book on Bahraini women launched

Bahraini writer Haifa Adwan has released her first book, Bahraini Women in the Era of His Majesty the King’s Silver Jubilee, coinciding with the kingdom’s celebration of its National Day and the anniversary of the King’s accession to the throne.

The publication documents the remarkable journey of Bahraini women and their expanding role during the era of His Majesty, highlighting the qualitative transformations achieved in women’s empowerment and their participation across national development pathways.

The book underscores the importance of preserving the record of Bahraini women’s contributions.

It traces their involvement in social, political and educational life from the early decades of the last century, culminating in the significant gains realised over the past two decades under His Majesty’s reform project.

The work highlights key milestones in women’s advancement, including their early entry into education and the workforce, active participation in national events, and modern achievements that have positioned Bahrain among the leading Arab countries in empowerment and political participation.

These include women attaining the presidency of the legislative authority, as well as holding senior diplomatic, judicial and leadership positions.
