The Pakistani Women’s Association (PWA) has announced its new board for 2026 alongside a range of community initiatives aimed at supporting underprivileged people in Bahrain.
Bringing together experienced members from previous years and fresh voices, the newly-formed board is united in its goal to advance the organisation’s mission and vision.
The 2026 team includes president Shahmeen Islam, vice-president Wajeeha Zarrar, general secretary Saba Saleem, assistant general secretary Isma Farhan, treasurer Faiza Gulzar, public relations head Rahila Nadeem and community head Syeda Ayesha.
“This year promises to be power-packed, driven by fresh ideas, renewed energy and a strong commitment to community service,” Ms Islam told the GDN.
“One of PWA’s longstanding initiatives is the Education Scholarship Fund, which has been supporting students for more than two decades.”
The fund currently helps 35 to 40 students every month. These students are predominantly Pakistani; however, it also supports other nationalities if needed.
“Many of the students who have benefited from this initiative have gone on to become doctors and engineers, which makes us incredibly proud,” Ms Islam said.
