As part of its ongoing World Cuisine Food Festival, Lulu Hypermarket welcomed visitors tonight to its Sri Lankan Produce & Food Mart at Dana Mall in Sanabis.
The cultural and culinary festival features promotions on vegetables, exotic fruits and unique processed foods.
The festival features culinary favourites by Sri Lankan chef Samitha Pathmakumara, a Senior Sous Chef at the Gulf Hotel. He will also be one of the celebrity chefs to be featured at the Lulu Hypermarket’s food promotion outlet at the BTEA Bahrain Food Festival in Bahrain Bay on February 29.
The inauguration event also featured a performance of Sri Lankan folk and classical dances by the world-famous Chana Upuli Performing Arts Foundation and a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Sri Lankan ambassador Ambassador Pradeepa Saram and Sameer Nass, chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as other VIPs and ambassadors.
“LuLu Hypermarket is delighted to present this showcase of abundance from Sri Lanka with the support of the Embassy of Sri Lanka,” said LuLu Group director Juzer Rupawala.
Ambassador Saram thanked Lulu Hypermarket, pointing out that the showcasing of Sri Lankan cuisine and culture was part of the ‘soft power’ focus of the embassy as the community celebrates the 72nd National Day of Sri Lanka and the 28th anniversary of Sri-Lankan-Bahraini diplomatic ties.
Stands at the mall featured tea, flowers, baskets and travel details highlighted by Sri Lankan Airlines.
