An urgent proposal to introduce special internet rates during the Covid-19 crisis has been approved by Parliament, reports the GDN's Mohammed Al A’ali.
MPs want the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to set special rates for all telecom providers as people continue to work from home.
"The threshold is complete within the first day of the month because all work, studies and other arrangements are done online," said MP Ebrahim Al Nefaei during Parliament’s weekly session.
"Instead of BD20, bills are BD80 a month and if not paid then the line is cut.
"People, Bahrainis and expats, are under financial pressure already and this is further punishment.”
