Diwali, the festival of lights, is not limited to India anymore. It has swelled in popularity worldwide. The American Women’s Association (AWA) also celebrates it every year and this time the festivities were at the Grand Swiss Belhotel Waterfront. The event was organized under its photography group ‘Shutterflies’ and was aptly titled ‘AWA Diwali Divas’ as around 50 women from diverse nationalities enjoyed the traditional Indian attires, shook a leg to Bollywood tracks and feasted on Indian delicacies typically prepared for such occasions.
President Amy Stroup, Vice President Kim Bakaev and Shutterflies Chairperson, Shikha Varma lit the traditional lamp. Dandia dance, raffle draw and a musical stage show were some of the highlights of the event.
