Bahrain plans to totally privatise vehicle technical inspections by July next year.
Traffic authorities will assign the inspections to private centres licensed by them in three stages, Director General of Traffic Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa announced yesterday.
The plan includes opening 11 technical inspection centres for light and heavy vehicles and motorcycles, in accordance with the requirements of the General Directorate of Traffic and under its direct supervision.
