Artists from the American Women’s Association (AWA) will be featuring their drawing, painting and photography skills at the 2024 Visions Art Exhibition under the patronage of Shaikha Marwa
Rashid Al Khalifa.
The exhibition will feature 15 members demonstrating their unique interpretations of this years
theme “The World We See.” It’s aim is to encourage artists to express their unique ideas,
perspectives and, well, visions of the world around them.
For over a decade, Visions Art Exhibition has been a hallmark of the American Women’s
Association. Self-taught artist and AWA member, Jacqueline de Freitas established Art group in
2007 as a way for members to share their artistic abilities. Their first exhibition was held in 2008 at
the Arabesque Gallery where AWA artists were able to showcase their hard work. In 2009, the
annual Art Exhibition became known as “VISIONS.”
“When you join AWA, you’re meeting women from all over the world. It’s an environment that
gives many perspectives and when you translate that to art, it is the pinnacle of human expression.”
said Madhu S., this years chairperson for both Visions and Art Group. “However, our main goal is
to raise funds for charities by contributing a portion of each sale.”
Since its founding, philanthropy has been a cornerstone of AWA, contributing thousands of dinars
to numerous charities throughout the Kingdom of Bahrain for the past 50 years.
Thanks to the patronage of Shaikha Marwa Rashid Al Khalifa and the sponsorship of Bahrain
Financial Harbour, Visions is set to run October 22nd through the 28th on the second floor of the
Bahrain Financial Harbour.
