Manama singers was formed 52 years ago and is considered to be the longest running community choir in Bahrain. Throughout this time performances have varied from classical favourites, such as Handel's Messiah and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana to more recent concerts of show tunes and popular songs. Though every Christmas the choir will sing Christmas carols at a number of venues, with the main performance of dinner and carols at the Dilmun Club being the most popular. The membership number has fluctuated around 40 over the years, but some singers have been members for over thirty years. The choir is not just a singing group, but also has a vibrant social side too. Regular gatherings are planned, as well as outings to concerts.
We rehearse every Tuesday from 7 pm until 9 pm at the Dilmun Club and are keen to attract more members. Everyone is welcome.
